Love Is, Love Ain't
So, as much as I love Tumblr, I’ve realized that not many people on here actually read what I write. It’s cool, this site is so visual and beautiful that words don’t often express what we are thinking and feeling adequately.  And just the other day someone mentioned that if you want to write, head over to Wordpress. So I have. One of my closest friends and I have decided to blog...

30-Day Challenge 3
Favorite television show? I love love love Law and Order. I don’t watch a lot of television, mainly documentaries and “nerd tv” but I really love Law and Order (the original) and Criminal Intent. SVU tends to get on my nerves. Absolutely no tolerance at all for “reality” television.

Think women have achieved equality? Think again. →
We Can’t Be Equal While: Gender Roles Men are the default and women are the Other (and therefore lesser). Being called “girly” or a “sissy” or “pussy” are some of the worst insults you can give a man. When a woman shows confidence in herself, she is said to “have balls”, or conversely she is a “man-eater”, “ball-buster”, or a “bitch” because she was “too” assertive. Men are beat up,...

Tattoos? Just one. My nickname with little rainbow colored drops on it above my left breast. It’s kinda of peekaboo, which I like. You can only see it if I’m wearing a tank, camisole or v-necked shirt. The woman I was seeing at the time got it for me as I couldn’t imagine paying someone to stick little needles in my breast area!  I have to admit that although I’ll probably...

My middle name? Andrea. My aunt named me Stephen Andrew thinking I would be a boy but it turned into Stephanie Andrea when I was born. As a kid, I liked Andrea better than Stephanie but I could never get anyone to call me Andy or Andrea for very long. Sooo, when I had my daughter. Guess what I named her? :0)

The DREAM Act and the Failure of White Gay/Lesbian... →
elektricity: ryotsu: The key structural reason why neither branch of the LGBT movements has operationalized its stated intersectional politics, is quite simple: the default definition for what “Gay” means has been set by, and remains dominated by, the ideas and experiences of those in our communities who are white and this really has not changed in more than fifty years. Issues, identities,...

femmefluff asked: Yep! I've heard of Ann Allen Shockley, I was extra surprised when I found out she ID's as heterosexual. That blew me because she was one of the first black women to to write a novel about lesbians. Have you read Arobateau's "The Bars Across Heaven"? THAT is a dated book (late 60's early 70s) but I LOVE it!

My Lady Ain't No Lady-Pat Parker
my lady ain’t no lady she doesn’t flow into a room— she enters and her presence is felt. she doesn’t sit small—  she takes all her space. she doesn’t partake of meals— she eats—replenishes herself. my lady ain’t no lady— she has been known to speak in loud voice to pick her nose, stumble on a sidewalk, swear at her cats, ...

Reblogging-Updated information
Just a quick note: I’m all for reblogging public service type information, as in the case of the missing girl in Indianapolis. I’m right down the road from there, and was about to reblog it when something told me to do a quick search on the story.  The girl was found safe on Friday night. I'm So Tired-Pat Parker
I’m so tired of hearing about capitalist sexist, racist, fascist chauvinist, feminist. I am tired  of hearing about  confrontating demonstrating trashing, smashing, surviving, jiving. I’m beginning to  wonder if  the tactics of this revolution is to talk the enemy to death.

BLE- Black Lesbian Entertainment, Pt. 1
I’ve been thinking about this for a minute, and I still haven’t worked it all out. But here are a few preliminary thoughts. This may turn into an all out rant, so forgive me in advance. One of the lesbian groups I follow on Twitter tweeted something like “if you’re not a loving it, you’re a hater,” or something similar. My immediate response was to reply with...

On Personal Style in Academic Writing-Patricia...
lowendtheory: Q. asks whether I am not afraid that my personal style is “too much” for an academic audience; he says that it is inevitable that my words will be read as “all about me” and speculates that the writing necessarily involves the reader’s passing judgment on me. Rather than risking another memo written in the first person, I take Q. to lunch and we talk. Read More
